Biography:
Karen Peck Gooch ( born March 12, 1960 ), has sung soprano with several very popular contemporary gospel groups. Karen joined the Nelons in 1981 and stayed with the Rex Nelon Singers until she formed her own group in 1991. Together with her older sister alto, Susan Peck Jackson ( born February 4, 1957 ) and Susan’s husband Rickey she formed Karen Peck and New River. Southern gospel hit after hit have followed.
2011 promises to be an exciting year for Karen Peck & New River as they celebrate 20 years of ministry. The group will attend 53rd Annual GRAMMY® Awards in Los Angeles, CA in February for their GRAMMY® nomination for the album, Live At Oak Tree: Karen Peck & New River. Karen Peck & New River’s two previous GRAMMY® nominations were for the great albums “ Ephesians One ” and “ Journey Of Joy ”.
Karen Peck Gooch will be appearing in a movie with Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah entitled, “ Joyful Noise ”. The movie,set to release in early 2012 is the heart warming story of the struggle to prevent a small hometown choir from shutting down. Karen will play the lead vocalist in a choir.
Karen and crew are currently in the studio working on their newest album, entitled “Reach Out”. This will be the first album to include their newest member, Jeff Hawes. We’ll be eager to hear this award-winning group’s latest creation.
